HONORING LIFE THROUGH MOVEMENT

Yearlong Support

Each month has a theme

July 2026

Tending Your Fire

The lush and voluminous green of the first of July in Minnesota is nature in her prime. The flashes of light from the evening fireflies swirling around the porch and the high frequency lightning and thunder storm are the lived experiences in the heat and heart of summer at these coordinates in the Northern hemisphere.

When the trees and greenery meet their fullness, there is a metaphor there for life in general being open to its full potential.

Summer is sometimes associated with the fire element because it embodies the season's peak yang energy, which is active, warm and expansive symbolizing the sun, heat, play and vitality. This makes it a natural match for the maximum light and warmth of summer.

What better time of year to tend your fire than summer?

What does it mean to tend your fire?

What are some ways you tend...?

The fire of your body?

The fire of your mind?

The fire of your spirit?

When we tend our own fire, it's good for the whole, good for all those around us. It's both a practical skill and and a rich metaphor for sustaining what's essential, whether it's a flame, a purpose, or a spiritual life.

June feels like summer. I waited and waited for a hummingbird to come to my new feeder, and one did. There is an invitation to notice the cycle of giving and receiving in life. What happens when you give? What happens when you open yourself to receive? What happens when there is resistance to giving? What happens when there is resistance to receiving? Like the trees that give off oxygen so we can breathe it in and the CO2 we exchange with the plants and trees, there is an endless natural cycle of giving and receiving with nature that we can emulate.

Heart Harmony

Bleeding hearts are one of my favorite plants. There are a few different varieties of the plant and some of them bloom all summer long. The classic varietal of the plant produces the most perfect heart-shaped blossoms but only blooms once at the beginning of the summer. These are my very favorite and make my own heart sing with beauty. This month's supportive theme is "Heart Harmony." I love this theme as a way of finding synchronicity with nature and things that make your heart sing. What kinds of plants and flowers or nature make your own heart sing? As the world comes alive with its blossoms and greenery, I offer you an invitation to find something in nature that makes your own heart happy.

The theme for April is Resurface and Reimagine. I chose these themes late in 2025 when doing my yearlong planning. Little did I know that I would dive down deep into the depths of a sadness that just wouldn't leave for the late part of the winter. It's so fitting and synchronous that I finally now have the capacity and lightness enough to refer back to my notes only to discover that my theme for April is to resurface and reimagine. It feels like a resurfacing of my mind, body and spirit right alongside the buds peeking out on the trees and the green grass sprouting from the Earth. The space has finally cleared enough to reimagine myself while I co-create the future.

Elemental Support

What are the Earth elements that support you? Iron, oxygen, silicon, and magnesium make up over 90% of the Earth's core, mantle, crust, and magnetic field. The four elements of matter are Earth, Water, Air and Fire. What elements are you using to support your lived experience? Are you called to explore any of these elements physically or metaphorically?

We all have desires. As February rolls in, I am leaning into the theme Desire as a Gift. Desires are the pathways of your body, mind, heart and soul to tell you something, lead you in a direction and bring you closer to your true essence. What if you let yourself linger on a desire of your body, mind, heart or soul? What if you ask yourself how that desire feels in your body? What if through that research, you could lean into a little more of your true essence? One way to do this body listening is through movement. An even more supportive way is when that movement is set to music.

This month, the invitation is notice how it feels in your body when you look at your desires as gift. Through somatic (body) listening, we can tune in more deeply.

Slowing Down + Stablizing

Taking the time you wish you could spend and spending it now on each task at hand. Begin to notice what it feels like in your body when you slow down, a little more than you might have before. Slowing down offers an opening to become more stable toward your center with less reaching and more allowance of being.
